World´s biggest Buddha statue to be reconstructed Description

The tallest Buddha statue in the world, the 55-metre high statue in Bamiyan Valley in Afghanistan, which together with other Buddha statues was destroyed by the Taliban in March 2001 and (http://maplered.com) included in the World Heritage List this year is now to be reconstructed under the leadership of the International Monument Preservation Association.

The association´s president Michael Petzet has appointed the German Stone (http://g603.net) mason Michael Scherbaum, the Master of the St. George´s Lodge in Nördlingen, together with two other Stone (http://g603.net) restorers to conduct the preliminary investigations for the reconstruction work. A week has been spent on site clarifying the structural securing of the fragments (approx. 1,000 m3 of blasted debris) and (http://maplered.com) their hand (http://maplered.com) ling and (http://maplered.com) movement.

Petzet assumes that the reconstruction can start in the coming year on completion of the protection work carried out by Michael Scherbaum.
